Partnership between Molotov and Samsung

Almost a year after the arrival of Molotov, the OTT TV distribution platform, on Smart TVs from Samsung Electronics France, number 1 in TV for over 10 years, the two players are opening a new chapter in the future of TV with a hybrid model. As of the fourth quarter of 2017, Samsung Smart TV owners, who expect ever more interactivity, will be able to benefit from the best of both Internet and DTT worlds.

Hybrid TV, in tune with new consumer habits

With the multiplication of screens and digital uses in the home, consumers are looking for a new, more interactive and immersive TV experience, and the best possible quality.

To meet this challenge and the challenges of today's TV, Samsung Smart TVs and Molotov enable you to switch instantly from TV reception via the Internet (OTT) to terrestrial reception (DTT) on all live TV programs in the blink of an eye, directly from the Molotov application.

The introduction of this hybrid function in the Molotov offering follows the strategic partnership concluded between TDF, the main operator of the DTT network in France, and Molotov in December 2016 when TDF acquired a stake in Molotov.

TDF is delighted with the commercial success of Molotov, which is already the ideal complement to the linear TV offer available on the DTT network. This new feature, available on Samsung TV sets, now represents a very important first step towards the realization in France of Hybrid TV, which is the natural evolution of DTT. Molotov and its advanced services reinforce the central role of the DTT platform in content distribution, by adapting to and facilitating new modes of audiovisual consumption.
