TDF and Qowisio announced today that they have signed a contract to host Qowisio's low-bandwidth, long-range communications network for the Internet of Things (IoT) in France.
Angevine-based start-up Qowisio is an operator present across the entire connected object value chain (range of innovative objects, connectivity, cloud applications, etc.). Last June, it raised 10 million euros to open its very first public network in France. The stakes are high, with an estimated 2 billion connected objects in France by 2020.
TDF has a fleet of 10,000 sites throughout France, dedicated to hosting telecom and audiovisual equipment. By setting up on TDF's infrastructure, Qowisio has chosen a nationally renowned industrial partner, ensuring rapid deployment and installation of its equipment.
This project is therefore a real challenge for both TDF and Qowisio teams, with the aim of connecting as many objects as possible by 2016 in France.

Christine Landrevot, Director of TDF's Telecoms and Services Division, commented: "The signing of this contract with Qowisio confirms TDF' s interest in the fast-growing IoT sector. The turnkey solutions developed by Qowisio are promising and meet real needs, expressed by both local authorities and businesses. Deploying the Qowisio network is a real challenge, for which TDF is mobilizing all its expertise."
" TDF has everything it takes to offer its customers maximum coverage and quality of service. On a day-to-day basis, we particularly appreciate the professionalism and close relationship we have with their teams. These essential qualities enable us to focus on the development of our new IoT services, with the guarantee that the deployment of our network will be a success," emphasizes Cyrille Le Floch, CEO of Qowisio.
