Val de Loire Fibre reaches the milestone of 220,000 marketable connections in the Indre-et-Loire and Loir-et-Cher public-initiative zone

At the Salon des maires et des collectivités locales, Bernard Pillefer, Chairman of SMO Val de Loire Numérique, Cyril Gasc, Managing Director of TDF's BU Fibre, and Jean-Philippe Martignac, Managing Director of Val de Loire Fibre, announced that they had passed the milestone of 220,000 marketable fiber optic connections in the area deployed by Val de Loire Fibre, a subsidiary of the TDF group. The same number of homes and businesses can now connect to the Val de Loire Fibre network.

This event marks a major step forward in the project, which is continuing in both départements. At this stage, 70% of the final volume of outlets has been built uniformly across the two territories.
Between 2,500 and 3,000 homes and businesses are becoming eligible every week. Proof of the network's success and the public's expectations, more than 75,000 homes and businesses have now been connected to fiber optics out of the 220,000 eligible outlets, i.e. an average subscription rate of 34%, which can exceed 60% in areas that have had fiber optics for a long time.
Val de Loire Fibre is deploying an open and neutral Public Initiative Network, enabling all operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to offer competitive and diversified Internet services. Eleven ISPs are currently available for residential customers, and twenty-six ISPs are dedicated to businesses.
Ultimately, by 2023, the fiber optic network will serve 320,000 homes and businesses in the 513 communes of Loir-et-Cher and Indre-et-Loire.

More attractive thanks to fiber optics

Fiber optics improve the quality of Internet use and enable a major evolution in usage. For individuals, it enables simultaneous use of the Internet in the home: teleworking, online games, video on demand, etc. For businesses of all sizes, fiber opens up new business opportunities. Finally, thanks to fiber, many emblematic tourist sites, such as the Beauval zoo, the Château d'Amboise or the Clos-Lucé, can now offer digital services and content to their visitors.

Jean-Philippe Martignac, Managing Director of Val de Loire Fibre, comments: "We are delighted to celebrate this major milestone with the SMO Val de Loire Numérique. Across the entire Val de Loire Fibre network, individuals and businesses alike are embracing fiber through their connection requests. We're delighted. At the same time, deployment continues, and our teams are keeping up the pace.

Bernard Pillefer, Chairman of Val de Loire Numérique, comments: "A year ago, in Coulommiers la Tour, near Vendôme, we celebrated the 110,000th household connected to the public initiative network. In just one year, the number of eligible households has doubled. This is proof that the TDF group and its subsidiary Val de Loire Fibre have put in place an organization and logistics in line with the ambition of our joint project.
