Maintenance work at the Eiffel Tower

This summer, TDF will be carrying out maintenance work on its TV and radio broadcasting facilities at the Eiffel Tower, as it does every year when Parisians are on vacation.

This summer work will ensure that 12 million people in the Paris region enjoy optimum quality FM radio and TNT channels, broadcast 24/7 from the Eiffel Tower. Around thirty public, private and community radio stations and forty DTT channels (free and pay) are broadcast by TDF from the Eiffel Tower.

TWO NIGHTS' MAINTENANCE

These operations will take place in two stages - on the night of July 31 to August 1, 2017 and on the night of August 2 to 3, 2017 - and will result in radio and DTT outages.

FM radio broadcasts and DTT broadcasts will be interrupted as follows:

- During the night of July 31st to August 1st, between 0.30 am and 5.30 am: interruption of FM broadcasts;

- During the night of August 2 to 3, between 0:30 and 5:30: interruption of FM broadcasts and cessation of DTT broadcasts between 1:00 and 5:30.

A number of FM programs will continue to be broadcast during the construction work, thanks to other transmitters in the Paris region that will take over the relay.

HOW THE WORK WAS CARRIED OUT

Some twenty engineers and technicians will be mobilized over these two nights to carry out various maintenance operations - impossible to carry out during the day for reasons of service continuity and safety. TDF technicians will be working directly on the DTT and FM antennas, nestled at an altitude of 324 metres, to carry out technical measurements and visual inspections. Energy tests and checks on the technical chain of the DTT and FM transmitters will also be carried out.
