As it does every summer, TDF is carrying out maintenance work on its television and radio broadcasting facilities at the Eiffel Tower. To enable the work to proceed smoothly, the FM and DTT service provided by TDF will be interrupted for a few hours over two nights.
Interventions by TDF technicians will require service interruptions:
- On the night of July 30 to 31 (from 0:30 to 5 a.m. for FM radio and from 1 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. for DTT)
- Night of August 1 to 2 (0.30am to 5am for FM radio only)
A number of FM programs will continue to be broadcast during the construction work, thanks to other transmitters in the Paris region that will take over the relay.
The work carried out over the summer ensures that 12 million people in the Paris region can enjoy optimum quality FM radio and DTT channels, broadcast 24/7 from the Eiffel Tower. Some thirty public, private and community radio stations and forty DTT channels (free and pay) are broadcast by TDF from the Eiffel Tower.
Timed and meticulous operations
Some fifteen TDF technicians will be mobilized over the two nights. Time will be of the essence to carry out the various maintenance operations, impossible to perform during the day for reasons of service continuity and safety.
Technicians will inspect the DTT and FM antennas as they climb to the top of the Tower, at an altitude of 324 meters. They will perform technical checks and visual inspections. In addition, energy tests and technical chain checks of the DTT and FM transmitters will also be carried out.
