From the Eiffel Tower, TDF broadcasts over thirty DTT channels and some thirty public and private radio stations to twelve million people in the Paris region. The work carried out over the summer will ensure the highest quality of service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round.
Temporary, targeted and controlled interruptions
To allow operations to run smoothly, FM radio broadcasting from the Eiffel Tower, supplied by TDF, will be interrupted for several hours over three (or even four) nights from July 28 to August 1, from 0:15 to 5:30.
A number of FM programs will continue to be broadcast during the works, thanks to substitute transmitters that will take over broadcasting on the same frequency.
Digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting will be interrupted on the night of July 28-29 from 0.45am to 6am.
Summer technical maintenance work
More than twenty TDF technicians and contractors are mobilized to carry out these complex operations, made all the more demanding by the site's specific conditions: altitude of over 300 meters, safety constraints, and service continuity imperatives.
Time will be of the essence to complete the various maintenance operations, which for operational reasons cannot be carried out during the day.
The aim of the work is to enhance the safety, reliability and performance of the equipment. At the summit, technicians will be carrying out technical inspections of antennas, checking and replacing equipment. Emergency stop and power tests will also be carried out.
