At TDF, our experts are at the cutting edge of engineering studies for DTT, FM and mobile networks (2G/3G/4G and 5G).

Located in Metz, TDF's engineering center of expertise brings together experts working on cutting-edge technologies, such as :

  • Radio coverage engineering studies
  • Frequency planning and spectrum management
  • IP network studies/design and microwave engineering/deployment

This center of in-house engineering expertise is staffed by some forty engineers and PhD students.

TDF teams carry out complete indoor radio engineering projects for shared multi-MNO coverage with TDF 3G/4G and WiFi transmission terminals. These terminals are deployed in subways, road tunnels, buildings and stadiums.

The division has designed and is working on upgrades to the national IP transport network (TMS network) for all TDF customers' audiovisual services, to carry DTT and radio programs from the studios to all TDF broadcast sites.

TDF is constantly seeking to :

  • Optimize radio coverage of areas in all types of environments (dense urban, suburban, rural, main roads, railroad lines, etc.) from masts and flat roofs.
 
  • Guarantee a coverage result that meets their expectations.

Our missions and tools

With state-of-the-art material resources (radio engineering tools -ATOLL, simulation tools and adhoc developments), the :

  • Integrate TDF proprietary propagation models optimized by hundreds of thousands of field surveys.
  • Calculate surface area and population coverage using official INSEE data enhanced with geomarketing data.
  • Conduct frequency coordination studies between radio services and frequency spectrum standardization in national and international bodies (ITU-R, CEPT), in collaboration with ANFR, to avoid interference and defend our customers' interests on DTT, DAB+ and FM frequencies.
