Progress of fiber rollout in Loir-et-Cher by Val de Loire Fibre to end December 2022

The milestone of 100,000 homes and businesses eligible for optical fiber in the Loir-et-Cher département was reached at the end of December 2022 within the scope of the Val de Loire Fibre public-initiative network. This marks a major step forward in the project. At this stage, the 100,000 eligible homes and businesses represent 75% of the final volume of outlets to be built in the département. Deployment will continue throughout 2023 to build the remaining 33,000 outlets.
In early 2018, Val de Loire Numérique launched an ambitious project to deploy fiber optics in the two départements of Indre-et-Loire and Loir-et-Cher, in order to contribute to their economic development and attractiveness. Every week since deployment began, 2,500 to 3,000 homes and businesses have been made eligible for fiber optics.
Deployed and operated by Val de Loire Fibre, a subsidiary of TDF, under a public service delegation agreement, this network will eventually serve all homes and structures in the department's public initiative zone. Individuals and businesses will be able to access fiber-optic offerings to benefit from innovative services and high-performance connectivity.
Fiber optics improve the quality of Internet use and enable a major evolution in usage. For individuals, it enables simultaneous use of the Internet in the home: teleworking, online games, video on demand, etc. For businesses of all sizes, fiber opens up new business opportunities. Finally, thanks to fiber, many emblematic tourist sites, such as the Beauval zoo, the Château de Chambord and the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, can now offer digital services and content to their visitors.
