TDF on the road to universal digital access

As an infrastructure operator committed to working alongside local authorities, TDF is stepping up its efforts to fulfill its public-interest missions in its three core businesses: broadcasting television and radio, hosting high-performance mobile telephony infrastructures, and deploying fiber in rural areas.

From the deployment of telephone masts in French Guiana to combat "white zones", to the extension of DAB+ digital radio broadcasting across mainland France, our latest achievements and projects testify to our unfailing commitment to supporting local authorities in their digital development projects.

There are so many projects to be undertaken and so many challenges to be met to make the ambition of "connecting everywhere, faster" a reality for all French people, in mainland France and the French overseas territories.

To discuss these major issues, TDF will soon be exhibiting at theAssemblée des Départements de France (November 8-10 in Strasbourg) and at the Salon des maires et des collectivités locales (November 21-23 in Paris).

Framework agreement signed with Lille Métropole Habitat

Part of TDF's TowerCo BU team was in Nantes in early October for the 2023 edition of the H Expo trade show. This was an opportunity for our group to formalize a framework agreement with Lille Métropole Habitat for the deployment of telecom operator equipment on the roof terraces of the social landlord's residences, and also to sign a partnership with Alpes Isère Habitat on the same connectivity issues.

TDF opens a BTS Hotel at its Villeneuve d'Ascq site

The Caisse d'Epargne Hauts-de-France has chosen TDF to deploy and operate the indoor antenna infrastructure throughout the ShAKe building, a new tertiary ecosystem located in the heart of the Euralille business district.
To carry out this project, TDF has implemented an innovative and optimized technical solution known as "BTS Hôtel" (BTS for Base Transceiver Station). This solution could be used to connect other sites in the Lille area.

apatou towers

TDF deploys two cell phone masts in Apatou

TDF has a long-standing presence in French Guiana, and is working to bridge the digital divide. Since the beginning of the year, the first six towers built by TDF have seen the light of day: one in Montsinéry, one in Sinnamary, two in Macouria, and recently two in Apatou. The latter, designed, built and operated by TDF, will soon enable local residents to benefit from the 4G network of cell phone operators who will come to install their equipment. In collaboration with mobile operators, TDF is currently studying new areas to be covered. Three new towers will be built before the end of the year, and twelve are planned for 2024. TDF teams manage these projects from start to finish: design, engineering, construction and site operation.

TDF rises to the challenge of connecting the NRL on Reunion Island

The colossal 12.5 km-long project to cover the Nouvelle Route du Littoral between Saint-Denis and La Possession will have mobilized all the cutting-edge know-how developed by TDF. To replace the pylons of the old road, which were located right on the cliff and subject to the vagaries of the weather, TDF chose to secure the coverage of this strategic section using a shared DAS-type solution.
A tailor-made solution that TDF was able to develop by contributing directly to drawing up the plans for this site, in close cooperation with the Regional Council of La Réunion and the departments involved.

TDF broadcasts the Ultra-trail de La Réunion in UHD on DTT

In partnership with France Télévision, and less than a year before the start of the Olympic Games, TDF was proud to broadcast the "Diagonale des Fous" race in Ultra High Definition on DTT from Thursday October 19 to Sunday October 22.

TDF has been working to modernize DTT for six years, and this latest step marks a symbolic milestone on the road to UHD, enabling all DTT users to benefit from unprecedented picture quality.

In Auvergne, TDF combines mobility with connectivity

TDF was present in Clermont-Ferrand from October 17 to 19 to discuss the policies and prospects of the mobility sector with a panel of visitors from a wide range of backgrounds (members of local authorities, elected representatives, operators, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, researchers, institutions and journalists...).
At a time when public policies are having to rethink the way in which mobility is conceived, it is becoming essential to take digital uses into account - whether it's a question of designing the intelligent transport networks of the future, or ensuring that every user has access to optimal connectivity when travelling.
