TDF newsletter for local authorities - October 2025

"When TDF puts its know-how to work to prevent forest fires".

TDF is often associated with television and radio broadcasting, or cell phone antennas. But TDF also has the capacity to innovate and use its infrastructures to meet new challenges. Forest protection is one such challenge.

Every summer, fires threaten our territories and ecosystems. We have launched an ambitious project: to make the most of our high points to deploy a network of intelligent cameras capable of detecting the start of fires.

In the forest of Fontainebleau, an initial experiment carried out with SDIS 77 and Pyronear has proved its effectiveness: from the TDF Croix d'Augas tower, low-energy cameras coupled with on-board artificial intelligence monitor the canopy and detect the beginnings of fires in real time. The results are tangible: TDF has won a tender from SDIS 77 to equip four additional sites. This is the first step towards wider deployment, supported by our infrastructures, our territorial coverage and the commitment of our teams.

This project illustrates a clear ambition: to demonstrate that TDF, beyond connectivity, can contribute directly to the security and protection of our territories, for the benefit of all.

Inauguration of a TDF data center in Polynesia

TDF has inaugurated its fifth data center, the first in French Polynesia. Located at the Pic Rouge in Papeete, it will meet the growing demand for secure, sovereign digital services in this territory. This new data center marks a key step in the digital transition of the French overseas territories.

Housed in a completely refurbished TV and radio broadcasting building, the site benefits from a high, non-submersible location, high-performance connectivity and state-of-the-art equipment. It also incorporates innovative energy solutions, including a heat recovery system and the forthcoming installation of photovoltaic panels.

As soon as it opened, the data center welcomed its first strategic customers: Banque de Polynésie and Axians Polynésie, and an extension is already scheduled for 2026. With this project, TDF confirms its role as a key player in digital development in the French overseas territories, offering secure, innovative data hosting solutions tailored to local needs.

TDF at Infranum's UTNT in Dijon

On September 16 and 17, 2025, TDF took part in the Université de la Transition Numérique des Territoires (UTNT) in Dijon. For two days, our teams exchanged views with local players on the challenges of connectivity, digital infrastructures and data centers, at the service of more connected and sustainable territories.

On this occasion, Rémi De Montgolfier, Director of TDF's edge/data center business, reiterated the vision that guides our action: "A data center is not just a technical infrastructure: it's a building block of sovereignty, a performance tool and a factor of territorial attractiveness."

Sovereignty is not just a matter of choosing a French player: it involves building a genuine ecosystem of trust, capable of federating sovereign players and public or para-public needs. In a context where a data center represents a heavy investment, requiring regular reinvestment, it's best to rely on well-established, solid players like TDF, capable of pooling costs and expertise. With its regional data centers in Bordeaux, Rennes, Lille and Aix-Marseille, and now in French Polynesia, TDF confirms its role as a key player in the digital transition of territories.

TDF accelerates connectivity work on Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express

On September 18, 2025, TDF reached a key milestone in the construction of Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express with the installation of the first connectivity masts on the viaduct. The aim: to provide 110,000 daily travelers with optimal, continuous 4G/5G coverage along the 35 km of the line.

To achieve this, almost 400 antennas and 100 repeaters will be deployed in a multi-operator network. This solution, already tried and tested on Reunion Island, is a first in mainland France, and involves almost 100 people. Progressive commissioning will begin at the end of 2026, before a complete Orly-Versailles link in 2030.

The rural mayors held their annual congress in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, Vienne.

TDF was present at the Futuroscope in Poitiers, from September 26 to 28, with a strong theme: "The future is invented in the village". Cooperation between local authorities, simplification of standards and local autonomy were at the heart of the discussions.

As a long-standing partner of the AMRF, TDF is there to support rural elected representatives in their projects: mobile coverage, radio and DTT broadcasting, local datacenters, private mobile networks and camera hosting. In the run-up to the 2026 municipal elections, this meeting is a key step in shaping the territories of tomorrow.

ruralitic

On August 27 and 28, 2025, TDF took part, as a partner, in the 20th edition of Ruralitic, in Aurillac, in the Cantal department, the unmissable meeting place for territorial digital. TDF welcomed Françoise Gatel, the French Minister for Rural Affairs, to its stand, and held discussions with numerous elected representatives, partners and local players. The event was an opportunity to present our historic role in supporting rural digital transitions: radio, television, microwave networks, local datacenters, digital radio and private mobile networks, all " invisible roads " essential to the development, attractiveness and competitiveness of territories. During the event, Audrey Briand, Director of Relations with Local Authorities, shared TDF's vision for the digital future of rural areas, notably during the pitch session, underlining the importance of digital infrastructures and services to support local authorities and prepare the local digital transition.

Tour de France des Ports

TDF took part in the Tour de France des Ports in Le Havre on October1, 2 and 3, 2025, as an integrator and demonstrator of private 5G solutions.

Alongside its partners Invenio Techs, Celerway Communication, Panorama Antennas and Resonances, the company highlighted the concrete impact of its networks on port and airport operations: private 5G bubbles and routers, AI-enabled video surveillance, and critical push-to-talk communications.

Xavier Delourme, TDF Business Developer, also took part in a round table discussion, illustrating our expertise in private mobile network (PMN) use cases.

As a platinum sponsor and key player in the event, TDF also deployed a private mobile network in the port of Le Havre, demonstrating how its infrastructures support the digital transformation, safety and competitiveness of ports, while paving the way for innovative new uses in logistics and industry.
