On March 8, 2011, the Eiffel Tower became one of the major symbols of the switchover to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in the Paris region. The switchover marks the end of analog broadcasting and the beginning of a new era for French television. Behind this historic event, TDF's teams play a central role. Present 24 hours a day, they are responsible for the installation, management and maintenance of broadcasting equipment perched more than 300 meters above ground. The photo shows the installation of the new feeder (cable) linking the equipment at the foot to the antennas at the summit. Heir to a long broadcasting tradition, the Eiffel Tower has once again established itself as a national technological pillar. This transition to digital has paved the way for major advances: the introduction of high definition (HD) as early as 2008, generalized after 2016, then the arrival of Ultra High Definition (UHD/4K) quality on certain experimental channels from 2018. Thanks to TDF's expertise, this emblematic monument continues to connect millions of households to free TV, while keeping pace with technological developments and growing needs for image and sound quality. .
