Both a tourist attraction and the scene of numerous sporting exploits, Mont Ventoux's chalky soil is home to TDF's transmitter center. Situated in the heart of the Haute-Provence region, it rises to an altitude of 1,912 m and is exposed to violent winds and weather conditions that deteriorate more rapidly than elsewhere: wind (regularly 200 km/h - record peak 320 km/h), snow and cold (140 days/year - average winter minimum -27°C), and violent thunderstorms. Its square concrete tower, topped by a 69 m high pylon, gives the TDF site a robust structure that can be adapted to a wide range of services.
Since March 31, 2007, TDF has been broadcasting digital terrestrial television channels from this site. More than 500,000 inhabitants of Avignon and the surrounding region are served. Since its beginnings, TDF has left its mark on the history of telecommunications and audiovisual broadcasting by creating sites that are both emblematic and strategic. These sites, which often pool several services, embody the company's pioneering role in audiovisual broadcasting and telecommunications development.
