The TDF site at Le Mans-Mayet, in the Sarthe region of France, is one of TDF's most beautiful sites. Taller than the Eiffel Tower, its cable-stayed mast measures 342 meters. From this broadcasting and telecommunications site, TDF broadcasts Digital Terrestrial Television and FM radio to the population of Le Mans and its surrounding area, and hosts telecoms services.
Whether the imposing silhouette of the Lilas Tower, the Lyon-Fourvière or Strasbourg sites integrated into the urban fabric, or high-altitude installations such as Mont Ventoux, Puy de Dôme or La Rhune, these structures mark the horizon. They punctuate people's habits, accompany their movements, and become part of their daily lives, to the point of becoming familiar landmarks. Construction of the main network transmitters began in 1950. These essential infrastructures enabled the first television channels to be broadcast throughout France, ushering in a new era in the history of the media.
