As a member of ORTO 92 and host broadcaster of the Winter Olympics alongside Antenne 2, FR3 and Radio France, TDF actively contributed to the great success of the 1992 Winter Olympics. TDF teams designed, built, operated, maintained and dismantled the international radio and television center (CIRTV) in Moûtiers. All the images and sounds converged at the IBC and were sent out to the whole world. TDF also provided France Télécom with part of the links from the event sites to the IBC during the Games.
The teams managed the audiovisual installations at the twelve event sites, made transmissions from the competition sites to the IBC and international transmissions from this center on behalf of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). They broadcast over 150 hours of Olympic programming, commissioned Radio France Savoie's synchronous FM network, carried out HD MAC coding and broadcast the high-definition television (HDTV) program produced during the Olympic Games. Finally, they managed five HDTV reception and demonstration sites, which welcomed over 50,000 visitors. (source: TDF business report 1989-1992)
