Solar farm in Coti Chiavari, Corsica

50 years of TDF history

coti chiavari solar farm

Installed at the foot of the TDF transmitter, the Coti-Chiavari solar farm is the group's first. Comprising 154 photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 65kWp, this installation enables the self-production of part of the electricity needed to run the site. Thanks to this new equipment, this major audiovisual and telecommunications site has seen its carbon footprint significantly reduced. This innovative system should save over 14 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The Ajaccio-Coti TDF transmitter was built in the 1960s in the commune of Coti-Chiavari. Standing 133 meters high, it broadcasts FM radio and Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) to residents of the Ajaccio region. It also houses telecoms equipment and antennas for cell phone operators, for 4G and 5G coverage. The site, located on land owned by TDF, meets all the criteria required for a solar farm: excellent sunlight, possible south-facing exposure with no shading, and sufficient available surface area. For several years now, TDF has been committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR), and has taken numerous steps to limit its environmental impact. This installation is fully in line with TDF's approach to reducing its carbon footprint and optimizing resources and energy expenditure. Other TDF solar farms are planned or under construction. For the past three years, TDF has also been installing photovoltaic shades at the foot of its towers. To date, more than 200 TDF sites have been equipped. This trend is set to accelerate over the next few years.
