Whether in relation to environmental protection, quality of relations with clients and partners, or more generally sustainable development dynamics, in its economic, social and environmental aspects, TDF is a responsible player, committed to its ecosystem. At all levels, it is working for the advancement of best practices.

Sites integrated into their environment
For several decades, TDF has been committed to an environmental integration approach for its sites. In a context when the development of new services may require to introduce new elements into a landscape (masts, towers, pylons, etc.), the Group is developing ways to visually harmonize facilities into their surrounding landscape. This involves adjusting colors and geometry, as well as the organization of spaces. Techniques are adapted to specific examples of sites: integration of a pylon into a woodland, integration of antennae into false chimneys or bell towers. These innovative solutions reconcile aesthetic imperatives with cost and service quality imperatives. Integration into the wireless radio environment represents a major Group commitment. In the context of strict application of current regulations, TDF regularly conducts field measurement campaigns. More than 1300 sites in France have been measured in this way since 2004. Data is systematically updated when new services are installed which are likely to influence the level of electro-magnetic fields. TDF is extremely vigilant in relation to information provided to the public, both in terms of transparency and quality, and contributes to research to deepen knowledge in this area. For instance, TDF is a founding member of the "Fondation Santé et Radiofréquences" (Health and Radio Frequencies Foundation) and it is deploying an HEQ-type quality initiative for tertiary buildings.

Reduced energy consumption
Digital is environment friendly! Its transmitters consume less energy. For TDF, the development of digital services means an improvement in the energy performance of its hardware and reduced energy consumption for constant service delivery. Being proactive in this respect, since this year the Group has been implementing energy consumption diagnostic and monitoring tools enabling optimization though identification of unusual situations. The waste management policy is also strict. TDF organizes for them to be collected and processed according to type. A policy of replacing electrical transformers containing chemical derivatives is implemented every few years. A plan to renew and check the safety of fuel tanks is put into action every year at TDF sites.
